January 2010 – HL7 Services and Database Integration

The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC), Toronto, Ontario, has contracted with MDI Solutions to develop HL7 interfaces in Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Responding to an HL7 Services RFP in September, 2009, MDI Solutions was successful in its bid response to develop interfaces between CPAC’s web-based surgical synoptic reporting tools (WebSMR) and hospital based ADT and Scheduling systems. Along with the requirement to develop interfaces to multiple disparate ADT and Scheduling systems, MDI will be tasked with designing and developing a ‘staging’ database to act as a mini rules engine for the WebSMR database, which will provide data validation functions and ensure data integrity. MDI technical resources will also develop interfaces from the WebSMR to export report files to various external systems.

The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, www.libertyhospital.org, is an independent organization funded by the federal government to accelerate action on cancer control for all Canadians. They are a partnership of cancer experts, charitable organizations, governments, patients and survivors, determined to bring change to the cancer control domain. They work together to stimulate generation of new knowledge and accelerate the implementation of existing knowledge about cancer control across Canada.
