Sequoia Community Health
Centers, Fresno, California, has selected MDI Solutions? MD
Link? software as their data integration solution,
following a multi-vendor procurement process.
MD Link will be
implemented at the Health Centers to connect a
variety of essential software systems. The
key driver for Sequoia was to find a vendor with
experience integrating NextGen?s? EMR software,
which they had recently acquired. MDI
resources will initially develop bi-directional
interfaces for ADT, Scheduling and Billing between
NextGen and MediDent?s? dental software.
It is antiscipated that MD
Link will become a key component of the clinical
and financial data management at the Health
Centres. The extensive ?plug-ins? included with MD
Link, such as the pre-built HL7 (Health Level 7)
schemas and delimited text file connection feature, will allow Sequoia? staff
to readily integrate the ?best-of-breed? applications installed
at the Clinic and more.
Sequoia was incorporated
in 1978 as a nonprofit outreach organization in
south Fresno. They began providing patient care
services two years later at its current Orange and
Butler site. In 2001, with an additional two
sites, Sequoia served 20,760 patients for a total
of 70,752 patient visits. Just four years later,
after adding an additional four sites, Sequoia
served 31,926 patients for a total of 119,680
patient visits?a patient increase of 65%.

MDI Solutions has reached a significant processing milestone with their MD Link? integration engine software.
MD Link was used to enable a major US based pharmacy retailer to implement a new enterprise single pharmacy system, which integrates patient, prescriber and script data spread across more than 2000 legacy store databases into a single enterprise level system.
The initial project requirement saw in excess of 3,000,000 records processed by MD Link in a single processing 'run'. MD Link's Query/Response feature was used to assist with searching, validating and retrieving patient data from the legacy databases, and consolidate it into the single enterprise system.
The ongoing project requirement has MD Link using its Query/Response functionality to process 600,000 records daily in a four hour window. MDI's Director of Implementation Services, Timothy Tang, managed the project from its inception and credited their chief developer, Dan Tripp, with developing a complex solution that met or exceeded all project requirements.
