MDI Solutions’ and their integration engine, MD Link, are featured in the August issue of Healthcare Informatics, in an article on integration software titled “Integration Engines…A future of Opportunities”. The MDI excerpt included the following:
Terry Durette is vice president for sales and service at Medical Data Integration Solutions (MDI), Toronto, which supports such major vendors as Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner, Quovadx, SeeBeyond, Siemens, and Dublin, Calif.-based Sybase and also offers its own engine, MDLink. He says new integration players will have a golden opportunity: to add training, on-site development and easy upgrading to the kind of bulletproof engine industry leaders have offered, and customers have demanded, for years. Customer savings could be significant.

MDLink, for example, features 12 Java-based plug-ins, including HL7, XML and database management interfaces, to simplify customization and eliminate the need for extended training or knowledge of specialized coding technologies such as Monk and Tcl.

MDI made a significant impact at the recent HIMSS Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas with the launch of release 4.0 of their integration engine, MD Link, and the introduction of two Mainframe/AS400 integration tools.

MD Link’s improved Monitor/Alert automated notification functions and enhanced message processing features now provide the healthcare industry with a comprehensive alternative to other integration engines at a very competitive price.

MDI introduced two significant software packages at the conference in Net.Visual and Caravel. Net.Visual is a revolutionary emulator-based software offering that allows organizations to create stunning and dynamic Web based applications without compromising the security or integrity of existing systems. Net.Visual™ is an ideal way to integrate existing legacy “Green Screen” applications with new front end applications and information contained in other systems. Caravel specializes in the automatic migration of RPG and COBOL systems to Java. Caravel is the only migration technology-based service available today in the software industry that translates 100% of the source code while maintaining the application's original functionality intact, on any operating system with a Java Virtual Machine.

This unique product offering extends the robustness of an interfacing solution beyond the initial engine layer. The introduction of the new features of MD Link coupled with Net.Visual and Caravel, creates a seamless continuum of data management at both the front and back end for a wide range of integration challenges.

Thank you for dropping by the MDI booth at HIMSS and we look forward to seeing you next year in San Diego!
