28 Apr Hogan Pharmacy Group goes ‘live’ with two additional sites on MDI Solutions’ Integration Engine
Hogan Pharmacy, Sarnia, ON is ‘live’ with 3 sites on the MD Link Interface Engine software from MDI Solutions, whereby they integrated pharmacy management software with an automated drug dispensing system.
MDI Solutions had completed an integration project between Kroll Computer Systems pharmacy management software and Omnicell’s pharmacy automation system for a long-term care facility in Ontario, Canada. Based on the success of that project, the Hogan Pharmacy group contracted with MDI to complete the integration for Golden Years Nursing Home in Cambridge, ON. MDI assigned one of their local HL7 certified resources to work with the Hogan group to review workflow and develop the required interfaces. MD Link was used to convert the Kroll XML file to HL7 for pharmacy orders and order updates. The integration required monitoring the Kroll pharmacy system for order information and then converting and processing the data as HL7 to send to Omnicell, where the patient drugs are then dispensed. The entire project took a little over one month from planning and work flow analysis to ‘go-live’. Based on this success, Hogan Pharmacy and MDI Solutions implemented the same process for peopleCare Tavistock and Oakcrossing London, with both facilities ‘live’ in under a month.
Hogan Pharmacy has been providing pharmacy services to Lambton County since 1951. The pharmacy was originally located in the St. Joseph’s Hospital and now resides adjacent to the newly constructed Bluewater Health Hospital. Over the last 23 years the Hogan Pharmacy group has grown to a total of eight independently owned pharmacies with a focus on complete patient wellness.
